I would like to thank Saturn of Scottsdale for sponsoring the Car Control Clinic.
My daughter took the clinic today in Gilbert. It was a very educational program,
and my daughter was able to use her new skills on our way home from the clinic.
We were behind a large SUV traveling west on Baseline. The SUV quickly changed lanes
which left us heading towards a stalled truck. My daughter was able to brake, think,
and change lanes without incident. I know that if this had happened yesterday, we
would have been in an accident. But because we had the class today, my daughter
was able to react in a very grown-up manner. I was very proud of my daughter, but
I know that it won't match how proud she was of herself. Thank You! Thank You! Thank
You!

First of all, thank you! Lindsay and I had one of the greatest Dad and Daughter
experiences that I can recall. We had FUN, and I know it is something
that both of us will remember always. But more importantly, long after the fun was
over, we came away with a new set of potential life saving skills.
Not only was this time and money well spent, it should be every parent's responsibility
to insist on it for their new drivers. We all send our children out in to the world
behind the wheel of a variety of machines ranging from Minis to Monster SUV's, from
"Beaters" to BMW's, with a false sense of security that we have done our best as
parents by providing them with the basic "Driver's Ed" class. For those of us who
know better, your New Driver Car Control Clinic is an answered prayer. Your course
is a tangible step that parents can take; something pro-active that parents can
do about that gnawing sense of helplessness they feel when they hear or read the
headlines about teen accidents, injuries and fatalities and wonder, "Oh God, have
I done enough for MY kid?" Gratefully, Rob Kneen

Thanks again for the opportunity to participate in today's clinic. This was our
third child to attend in four years. Andrew has had his license for a month and
he drove away with a dramatic and valuable lesson today which otherwise could only
have been learned in a very painful way - how to stop a car in an emergency situation
and exactly how his vehicle will respond. Had we not heard of this course, none
of these kids would have ever had the chance to know what it takes to control or
stop a car until it was too late. The statistics that you present in regard to the
extraordinary safety records of the graduates of this program have been borne out
in our family - not a single problem for the older two and an immediate change in
Andrew's attitude and skills today. We will take some credit ourselves. Parents
that care enough about their children to "drag" them to this clinic are sending
a strong message. They are also in for a heck of a fun day. I can't wait until the
fourth gets her turn in two years! After twenty-five years practicing surgery in
South Florida, I can say that I've seen an obscene number of disasters. This course
could be the difference between a trip to the funeral parlor and a trip to the body
shop for a fender repair. I just cannot see any reasonable parent not taking advantage
of this. Again, thanks for a great day. Jon Wideroff, MD

From: Dianne L'Heureux As a veteran educator, and the parent of a 16-year-old, I
must say that the money I spent on the car control clinic is the best purchase I've
made this year. That one day changed how my daughter viewed her level of competence,
as well as how I view her level of competence. This class is outstanding and should
be available to all youth in Georgia. It was outstanding.

Hello,
Last night my son was in a car accident. The car went into a skid then several spins.
He guided it through other cars on the highway and stopped it next to a guardrail.
My son was unhurt, his 3 passengers were unhurt, and all other cars on I-95 were
unhurt. The police officer at the scene told me my son did an amazing job of driving.
My son's first words to me the next morning were, "Mom, thank you so much for making
me go to the car control clinic. It saved my life. I knew exactly what to do and
my training just took over and made me not panic. I just thought to myself to remember
my training and it worked." I have told all my friends to take their kids
to the clinic. Most think it's too expensive or don't want to give up a day. How
wrong they are. They can't afford NOT to go. If I had a million dollars I would
take every one of my son's friends in case my son is ever with them in an emergency
situation. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the wonderful training you
gave my son. I have him today - thanks to you.

It was the best $$$ I spent on Bryce's driving. I could immediately see a difference
even driving home that day from the clinic! She just seemed more confident and sure
of herself. I would strongly support bringing the class to [all of] Georgia. Tina

Dear Car Control Clinic,
I am writing this letter to you as a testimony about your Car Control Clinic that
my son (Allen) attended. About 3 weeks ago Allen was driving home from school. It
was raining and the road was wet. Allen came home from school that day and walked
in the house. The first words out of his mouth were "Well Dad, that Car Control
Clinic we went to paid off today. I tried to stop for a red light (actually the
light was yellow) and the tires locked up and the car began to slide sideways toward
another car. I knew what to do because of the clinic. I took my foot off the break
and the car went straight. I had to go through the light but the clinic prevented
me from having an accident. I would not have known what to do if I did not go to
the clinic. I even pumped the breaks like the man said to and it worked." As Allen's
father I want to thank you very much for your teaching car control to BOTH of us.
Your Car Control Clinic helped my son avoid an accident that could have been disastrous.
Thank you and thank you again.
Sincerely,
Richard A. Smith

My son & I took this course last week. I have convinced several of my friends
to do the same, now that I know how great it is. My son will go for his driving
test this Friday. Last Saturday night we were driving and he had to come to a sudden
stop and veer out of the way of another car. I think the experience of this class
helped him to react quickly and effectively. This is what we want for all our teenage
drivers in Florida. Thank you.

My oldest daughter went to the Car Control Clinic. On top of her learning a
lot about road and car safety in the classroom portion, she came away from the Clinic
feeling more comfortable with her car and herself as a driver. I was surprised to
hear her say that, but she did. I think it's great. I really felt it was important
for my daughter to learn how her car will react in different situations and how
to control her car. I have another daughter that gets her permit this summer. After
she has driven for a while I will sign her up [for the Clinic] also. I think this
Clinic is very important for every new driver. Thank you

This clinic is a wonderful tool for both teens and parents alike. I too have
seen many young drivers lose their lives to careless driving. I am a firefighter
in the City of Hollywood. I think this course helped my son learn some techniques
that could help in emergency situations, and would most definitely help many others.
Keep up the great work.

The training both my son and I rec'd at this clinic was invaluable, it was hands
on training, with the intent of training the driver to deal with difficult situations.
I think most kids would welcome this type of training since it certainly gave my
son a sense of empowerment, that he now understood what a car was capable of and
what he was able to do.

My daughter and I took the Car Control Clinic and it's been a wonderful addition
to her driver training (for both of our driving, actually). It has made her much
more confident behind the wheel. More importantly, it has given her the experience
necessary for quick decisions and reactions in an emergency. How many times in one's
driving history will these skills be required? Countless!
I strongly urge every teenager have the benefit of this experience. If it was required
by law, that would be even better. Then the roads would be a much safer place for
us all.
Thank you for encouraging our legislators to enact this into law.

My daughter and my husband participated in the New Driver Control Clinic in September.
We feel the training was truly excellent and we wish every teen driver would have
this type of experience before hitting the road. Our streets would be much safer.

My wife and I believe it is imperative that all new drivers be provided with some
meaningful, formal education as to how to handle their vehicle in an emergency and,
better yet, to avoid that situation in the first place if possible. My teenage daughter
and I attended the New Driver Car Control Clinic and we both learned some very important
techniques that could save lives. This clinic took less than one day of our time
and attention and should become a required part of each new driver's training.
Sincerely,

I have been and am involved with many teens in this category of having a permit
or just getting their license and it has been amazing to me how many parents think
that just street driving is enough to have your child ready to go out on the road.
I have found that my son Jordan shows so much more self confidence and control behind
the wheel than the others who haven't gone to this [New Driver Car Control Clinic]
who have been out on the road more hours than Jordan. I also have more confidence
in his judgment since attending this course with him and seeing his abilities and
capabilities. Thanks for this opportunity to try to help develop more defensive
drivers.

As a parent of a teen driver I feel very strongly about teens getting proper education
behind the wheel. I can honestly say that I even learned something from the clinic
I attended. The more aware we make our kids of hazards on the road, the better prepared
they'll be when any situation arises. Thank you.

I have two teenagers and the driver's education class at their public school does
not offer behind the wheel training. I believe it is imperative to make laws that
require more training than is presently required. I highly recommend the New Driver
Car Control Clinic which my oldest daughter took before Christmas. Programs such
as this one give teenagers hands-on training in car control, accident prevention
and defensive driving. ... There is a true need for this type of program for new
drivers.

My 16 year old daughter Kelly enjoyed the clinic and cited the training and practice
she was given handling our 1993 Honda under skidding conditions. Kelly is more confident
as a result of this training. She's better prepared to handle an emergency and is
a safer driver as a result. Thanks for taking the time to crusade on this issue.
Good luck.

I watch my daughter's classmates pull into the school's student parking lot. I have
one questions with several different answers...
How did they get there?
In a new expensive car, a gift from their parents, with license plates marked "Daddy's
little Princess."
How did they get there?
Speeding, excessive lane changes, tailgating, signs of road rage, and 20 other moving
violations.
How did they get there?
Chatting on the phone. Singing to music so loud the car pulses (let's not forget
dancing) Putting on makeup, Looking at friends in the back seat to talk instead
of looking at the road, and smoking.
How did they get there?
Obviously by the Grace of God.
However, with all this, their parents should be so proud, at least I see them all
wearing their seat belt.
Parents have to be made accountable for the raising of informed children. It sickens
me to hear my acquaintances speak of how they will give their child a large SUV
so that their child will be safe. Never mind the dead bodies they will leave in
their wake during their free wheeling Expedition. Pun intended. ...
Driving instruction from professionals. We did three different professional driving
courses from three different companies just for extensive and diversified training.
And to bring as many skills to the table as possible. After 16 months of driving
training our Kristina went for her road test. She passed. Was she done? No. Why
not? Because even though she was dubbed a "good driver' by each of her instructors,
I still couldn't sit in the car with her and feel as safe as if I were driving myself.
What brought her to the point of being allowed to drive on her own? New Driver [Car]
Control Clinic. What an amazing experience. She is confident not cocky. She is driving
ahead with thought. The clinic lowered her stress level while driving. A course
like this should be mandatory.
